Kami J. Silk, (Ph.D., University of Georgia) is Chairperson of the Department of Communication at the University of Delaware and the Edward F. and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Communication. Silk is a health communication scientist who investigates how to communicate effectively to promote positive health outcomes among the lay public. Her research has focused on developing and evaluating theoretically-informed, evidence-based persuasive messages and health promotion campaigns across a wide range of issues that include problematic drinking behavior, breast cancer risk reduction, suicide prevention, bike safety, and improving nutritional practices.Her research has been published in the Journal of Health Communication, Health Communication, Social Science & Medicine, Journal of Nutrition Education & Behavior, and Health Promotion & Practice.
