Nicholas Krisof is an op-ed columnist for the New York Times, a respected journalist and the father of college age children. This is a thoughtful piece that is far more wide-ranging than an oversimplification of the connection, perhaps especially on college campuses, between sexual assault and the misuse of alcohol. However, that fact is explicit and implicit in much of the article. At one point Mr. Kristof writes that one way to address the problem is through “Blunt conversations among men and women alike about consent, alcohol, and the need for friends to step up with what’s called ‘bystander intervention.’ “
