The CDC publishes the Health Communication Science Digest (HCSD) electronically every month. We noted that the November issue highlights several articles related to” health communication intervention design and evaluation.” Here is the monthly email from the CDC’s Associate Director for Communication Science, summarizing the November issue of the HCSD.

Dear colleagues,

The November issue of Health Communication Science Digest (HCSD or Digest) is now available at http://www.cdc.gov/healthcommunication/ScienceDigest/index.html

In the Digest this month several articles examine health literacy (Chisolm, et al.; Geboers, et al.; Goggins, et al.; Gordon, et al.; E. Hahn, et al.; J. Hahn, et al.; Rogers, et al.). Most of these papers are from a Journal of Health Communication special issue “Highlighting Progress in the Field of Health Literacy Research” which you can access at http://www.tandfonline.com/toc/uhcm20/19/sup2#.VHS3k3ZOmX8. Studies reporting on health communication intervention design and evaluation (Baquero, et al.; Shaw, et al.; Ybarra, et al.), health messages effects (Choi & Forster; Manika, et al.; Regan, et al.), and health information seeking (Bhandari, et al.; Kuttschreuter, et al.) are also included. And, many writers examine health message design factors (Hoeken & Sinkeldam; Lazard & Mackert; Nothwehr, et al.; Yong, et al.; Zeng-Treitler, et al.).

Please remember that you can access all issues of the “Health Communication Science Digest” series online via the searchable Health Communication Science Digest Archive.

We hope that you find the Health Communication Science Digest useful and invite you to provide us with feedback for improvement. Please send us articles that you would like to share with others—articles you or your colleagues have published or found useful.

Please send your comments and questions to HCSD@cdc.gov.

We wish you much success in your public health work!
